For three consecutive years the Municipality of Binalbagan under the Local Administration of Hon. Emmanuel I. Aranda, Municipal Mayor and together with the municipal officials, garners awards (Bronze – 2014, Silver – 2015 Gold 2016) for Seal of Good Environmental Governance awarded by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental during the Provincial Environment Month aside from the Seal of Good Local Governance awarded by the Department of Interior and Local Government last September 2015.
During the Provincial Environment Month awarding ceremony held last June 24, 2016 part of the 24th celebration of the Provincial Environment Week, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental awards the GOLD Seal of Good Environmental Governance to the Municipality of Binalbagan, for its remarkable practices on environmental conservation and protection. Also another Gold award as Outstanding in Coastal Resource Management in relation to the LGU Development Agenda UR ASENSO with the Ridge to Reef Approach. The same receives the Gold Award for Outstanding in Enforcement with active implementation of active and dedicated law enforcement particularly with the apprehension of illegal fishing.
To attain a dedicated practice on environmental conservation and protection, the LGU works hand in hand with different academe, around the municipality, private companies and establishments, and with the community commitment was made possible with the command of a very dedicated person, Mr. Ramon Morales, Municipal Agriculturist/Environment Officer of the municipality. The Provincial Government recognized his dedication to the environment concern as Hero for the Environment which was awarded on the same day.
