The Municipal Agriculture’s Office of Binalbagan made an Information Education Campaign this March 10, 2017 in participation with the 60 Grade 4-6 Students of Paglaum Elementary School.     This is to support to the celebration of the Rabies Awareness Month 2017 themed “Rabies ay Iwasan, Alaga’y Pabakunahan”. The Office believes that public awareness will be strengthened through the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign and in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government shall intensify the promotion of dog vaccination, dog population control, as well as the control of stray animals.  In accordance with RA 9482 or “The Rabies Act of 2007”, rabies control ordinances shall be strictly implemented. In the same manner, the public shall be informed on the proper management of animal bites and/or rabies exposures.

The IEC is supported by the Office of Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Ryan Jamuya, the Municipal Agriculturist Ramon Morales and Mr. Ceasar Gayem, Agriculturist II and Livestock Technician of LGU-Binalbagan. This is a part of massive dog vaccination awareness to 16 barangays of the Municipality that covers 5,057 Dog populations as of January 2017. The MOA of Binalbagan targets 80% of the total population and through substantial campaign from side to side tarpaulin posts, social media updates (website, facebook and twitter) and radio broadcast, this aim shall be achieved.
